Guilderland Center, NY – Last week, ESCA Board member company Parksite hosted Rep. Paul Tonko (D-NY-20) at their Atlantic Plywood location in Guilderland Center, New York.

During his visit, the congressman toured the office and warehouse, had lunch with employee-owners, and heard individual stories about the benefits of the employee stock ownership plan (ESOP). The congressman said “he is a believer in ESOPs” and that ESOP issues fit into his goals of “advancing policies that create jobs, provide economic opportunity, and ensure senior citizens can retire with dignity.” The congressman was so inspired by his visit to Atlantic Plywood that he signed onto pro-S ESOP House legislation, H.R. 2092. With Rep. Tonko adding his name to H.R. 2092, the bill is now up to 84 House cosponsors.

“We are thankful to Rep. Tonko for visiting our employee-owners and signing on to pro-ESOP legislation,” said Parksite’s Manager of Communications, Elizabeth Wheeler. “We hope that more companies have the opportunity to pursue employee ownership, from the day-to-day pride of ownership to the ability to retire with piece of mind and financial security.”
