The three-term Congressman, who currently serves on the Budget and Small Business committees, met with Recology’s Senior Director of Strategic Affairs Eric Potashner and heard from a number of employee-owners. During the visit, Rep. Schrader toured the facility and learned about Recology’s extensive work both within the district and on the West Coast as a whole.

Recology is an integrated resource recovery company headquartered in San Francisco. In 1986, Recology became 100% employee-owned and since then the ESOP has fueled their drive toward excellent service, customer satisfaction, employee retention, efficiency and innovation. Not the mention the vast retirement savings accounts the employee-owners hold.

The company collects and processes municipal solid waste, reclaiming useful materials that would have otherwise been buried in a landfill. The company also runs transfer stations, materials recovery facilities and a small number of landfills. It is the largest organics compost facility operator by volume in the United States, and with more than 26 locations in 4 states and nearly 3,000 employee-owners, Recology is one of the largest employee-owned companies in the waste management industry.

ESCA thanks Recology for hosting Congressman Schrader for a visit.
