Last week, ESCA member company Shorr Packaging hosted Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) at its company headquarters in Aurora, IL. Shorr Packaging Corp. is one of the nation’s oldest and largest independent distributors of packaging materials and equipment, specializing in comprehensive packaging solutions for businesses of any size and industry. Shorr has over 200 employee-owners and facilities in California, Iowa, and Indiana.
During his visit, Congressman Foster met with Shorr’s employee-owners, toured the facility and answered questions. The Congressman’s visit was a unique opportunity to showcase how a successful S ESOP company operates and how the business structure provides benefits to not only the company and employee-owners, but also contributes to the greater economic health of the US. Congressman Foster noted he was very impressed with Shorr’s longevity and success as an S ESOP saying, “It is encouraging to know that the employee-ownership model is something that is working well, and one that we must work to preserve.”
The Congressman also encouraged the company’s employee-owners to continue to engage with Members of Congress to share their personal stories about the benefits of employee ownership.
