Phoenix, AZ – Last week, ESCA Leadership & Development Council member Pima Medical Institute (PMI) hosted Congressman David Schweikert (R-AZ-6) at their Phoenix campus. The congressman is fairly new to the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, being added last year, and this was the first time he has visited an ESCA member and S ESOP business.
During the visit, PMI Vice President Liby Lentz and Campus Director Stacey Nottingham, told the congressman PMI’s story of employee ownership, provided numbers on the growth PMI has experienced as a result of being employee-owned, and spoke to the unique and leading role the company plays in the medical education space. After the overview, the congressman toured PMI’s classrooms and met with PMI employee-owners. The congressman indicated he is supportive of ESOPs and would look into cosponsoring S ESOP legislation, H.R. 2092, when Congress reconvenes after the election.
“At Pima Medical Institute (PMI), my team and I had the chance to explore the campus and see students’ medical education and training in the allied health field,” said Rep. Schweikert. “During the visit, we discussed jobs in the medical field and the benefits of being an employee-owned company. Thank you to PMI for all of your hard work and dedication to students’ success.”
