Lexington, Kentucky – Recently, ESCA Board member Messer Construction Co. (Messer) hosted Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY-06) at its Lexington office. The Congressman visited with Messer employee-owners, toured the office and spoke with company leaders. The Congressman spoke with employee-owners about S corporation ESOPs and the status of the construction industry as a whole. During the meeting, Congressman Barr agreed to sign on as a co-sponsor of H.R. 2258, the Promotion and Expansion of Private Employee Ownership Act.

“I enjoyed touring Messer Construction and seeing firsthand their excellence in commercial construction. Moreover, I am proud to support ESOP tax legislation that facilitates employee-ownership in the company while providing retirement security for the workforce,” said Congressman Barr.

“At Messer Construction Co., we believe in building better lives for our customers, communities, and one another other,” said Mark Hill, Vice President and Lexington Regional Leader. That’s why we are so committed to excellence and doing the right thing. Thank you, Rep. Barr, for spending time with us to learn about how employee ownership has helped us achieve our goals!”
