Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst and candidate for U.S. Senate visited the Irving branch of ESCA member, Vermeer Texas-Louisiana, this past week. Vermeer Texas-Louisiana is a distributor of utility and pipeline installation, tree care and wood waste processing equipment and is also 100 percent employee owned.

Lt. Gov. Dewhurst, a lifelong businessman, had the chance to visit with over 40 employee-owners to see how the company operates under the S ESOP structure and the great benefit it provides the company, the employees, and their customers. He listened to stories from employees firsthand about how their S ESOP has personally affected them and their retirement accounts in a positive way, by providing financial security and peace of mind during this tough economic time.

The team work attitude and customer-first focus is clear throughout the company, because the employees literally have stake in the solutions they provide. Since 1978, Vermeer Texas-Louisiana has grown to be a region leader as an authorized dealer for Vermeer equipment. Today, they can be found at 11 full-service locations in Texas and southern Louisiana employing a total of 130 people.

Lt. Gov. Dewhurst has been a widely recognized community figure in his hometown of Houston and understands the powerful role that an S ESOP structure can play in creating and maintaining jobs, as well as stimulating economic growth.  ESCA thanks him for his support and we look forward to continue to work with Lt. Gov. Dewhurst to promote the S ESOP structure to more Texans and Americans.
