Yesterday, I was proud to be at the Inland Truck Parts Company expansion event in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. We heaved our shovels in the dirt and broke ground on a new chapter for our company.

As an employee-owner and CFO of Inland Truck Parts, I am encouraged by this new location, which will be a more accessible place for our trucking business. It will allow us to do more, becoming more efficient and technologically capable along the way.  We have been a happy member of the community since 1952, and look forward to doubling our capacity with this new 37,000 square foot facility.

But most importantly to us, it means we can hire more Nebraskans. We need more technicians to help us with our larger business capacity.  And with our employee stock ownership plan, these new technicians will be provided qualified defined contribution retirement plans that provide retirement savings through their investments in company stock, at no cost to the them.

Joining our employee-owners at the groundbreaking was Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE-3rd).  We told him about the important role that the S ESOP structure had in our accomplishments in Scottsbluff, and encouraged him to support H.R. 1244: the Promotion and Expansion of Private Employee Ownership Act. By encourage private ESOPs like ours, we can help more companies grow and create jobs like we are doing right now in this Nebraska community.

Our employee-owners played a pivotal part in coming this far, all lending a hand in this achievement. The Scottsbluff team looks forward to moving into the new building in the next six months, and welcoming new employee-owners on board.
