Gilroy, California – Last week, Congressman Jimmy Panetta (D-CA) visited ESCA member Recology at their South Valley Organics facility in Gilroy, California. The congressman was appointed to the Ways & Means Committee in January. Recology employee-owners and resource recovery experts highlighted for the congressman some of the cutting-edge projects the company is working on, discussed paths forward on developing an environmentally-friendly resource policy, and showcased the company’s work in the Santa Clara-area, as well as across California.
“I appreciated learning more about Recology’s innovative work to collect, recover, and process organic and inorganic resources right here on the central coast of California,” said Rep. Panetta. “As an employee-owned company, they are not just investing in protecting our environment, they are also bettering our community.”
“It was a pleasure to host Congressman Panetta at our facility in Gilroy,” said Recology’s Eric Potashner, Vice President & Senior Director of Strategic Affairs. “We’re committed to our work as a recycling and composting company, and we’re proud of our commitment to employee ownership. Just like we take care of the environment, we take care of our employees. We’re thankful to the congressman for taking the time to come learn about our ESOP.”
