For the second year in a row, the Minneapolis Star Tribune has named ESCA Board member and 100% employee-owned Burns & McDonnell as a “Top Workplaces of 2013” in Minnesota. Additionally, the publication Minnesota Business recognized the engineering, architecture, construction, environmental and consulting services firm as one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” in 2013.
Burns & McDonnell’s leadership sees the employee ownership business model as the reason behind the company’s positive atmosphere. In an interview, Gene Sieve, the office manager of the firm’s Minneapolis-St. Paul location, said: “I’m very proud to work at a place like Burns & McDonnell, where the culture is inclusive, collaborative and fun.” He continued, “We strive to make work rewarding and fulfilling for our employees, so earning this recognition reinforces that mission.”
The Star Tribune also noted similar observations among other Burns & McDonnell’s employee-owners. In recognizing the firm, the paper highlights a level of camaraderie that stems from the employee ownership business model.
Burns & McDonnell has also been recognized nationally ranking 18th in FORTUNE’s 2013 list of 100 Best Companies to Work For. This is the second consecutive time the firm has made the list, moving up eight spots, and the third time in five years.
ESCA congratulates Burns & McDonnell for being a superb example of an employee-owned company.
