Americans have not saved anywhere near what they need to retire, and the thought of losing Social Security benefits after they have spent years paying into them, is a real fear. For the employees at my company, Inland Truck Parts, we are fortunate to tell a different story, one where our retirement security is not contingent on Social Security.
Inland operates under an SESOP corporate structure, or an employee stock ownership plan, where the success of our company directly benefits the retirement funds of our employees. Each employee becomes a part owner in the company and is invested both personally and financially. As we continue to thrive, so do our retirement accounts.
Preserving and expanding private employee ownership can help workers here in South Dakota and across the country work toward a secure retirement, so they can reach 65 and retire with peace of mind and dignity.
