S ESOP structure proves successful at the Kansas City Business Journal’s annual Champions of Business

The Kansas City Business Journal honored two ESCA members for their continued dedication to the gold standard for financial performance, innovation and community involvement. Winning companies Burns & McDonnell and Garney Construction were honored at the Champions of Business luncheon and featured in a supplement published by the Kansas City Business Journal.

Both companies have had continued success and growth, due in part to their dedication to an S ESOP Corporate Structure, which is an employee stock ownership plan. The employees at Garney Construction and Burns & McDonnell have the privilege of saving for a secure retirement through the employee ownership model, where the success of the company directly benefits their retirement savings accounts.

“The accolades for  these two companies and their employee-owners demonstrates how influential the S ESOP structure can be in hard-working places throughout our country like Kansas City,” said Greg Klein, chairman of the board of directors of the Employee-Owned S Corporations of America. “These employee-owners work hard to be innovative and competitive, generating a high performing environment but also jobs and economic activity in their community.”
