Austin Commercial, an Austin Industries company and ESCA member, was recently awarded first place in the Associated General Contractors of America’s Construction Safety Excellence Award at its recent convention in Honolulu, Hawaii.
This is a fantastic accomplishment and the third time that Austin Commercial has received the award since 2001.
Austin Industries is 100 percent employee-owned. They attribute their successes in part to their structure as an employee-owned private company, or “S corporation employee stock ownership plan” (S ESOP).
Austin’s award came in the “Construction Manager with 500,000+ man-hours” category, showing the large amount of time and energy dedicated by their employee-owners who are invested personally and financially in the success of the company.
In addition, Austin Commercial and its 5,500 employee-owners nationwide are invested in the development and implementation of premier safety and loss prevention programs, which are achieved through management commitment, employee involvement and program innovation. The company also uses a job-site employee-owner involvement process called Safety Performance Improvement Council to improve practices and reinforce the importance of safety.
Austin’s employee-owners share in the success of the company and are motivated to work hard because the company’s earnings go toward their retirement accounts. The employee-owners of Austin Commercial are dedicated to its growth and take immense pride in the Safety Excellence Award.
