2016 Leadership Summit

This spring, a record six members of Congress – Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-MN), House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA) and Sens. John Thune (R-SD), Richard Burr (R-NC), and Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) – joined ESCA Board members and Summit attendees for various Summit activities. Additionally, Jared Bernstein, former chief economist for Vice President Joe Biden, presented the findings of his new study that shows by increasing capital ownership, ESOPs reduce wealth and wage inequality. Bernstein argued that if ESOP plans were to proliferate more broadly, more workers across the country would benefit from their equalizing effects.

2015 Federal Policy Conference

Repl._Ryan_picture-150x150In September, more than 160 members, employee-owners and guests attended our annual conference in Washington, DC.  The event included keynote speeches by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA); Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), a member of the Senate Finance Committee; and Congressman Charles Boustany (R-LA), a member of the House Ways and Means Committee.  Click here to read the full highlights.

2015 Leadership Summit

In February, we had a ESCA conference record of 180 attendees at the 2015 Leadership Summit. Participants heard from Congressman John Kline (R-MN), Chairman of the House Education and Workforce Committee, Senator Dan Coats (R-IN), new member of the Senate Finance Committee, and Congressman Richie Neal (D-MA) of the House Ways and Means Committee. 2014 Federal Policy Conference

ESCA’s 2014 Federal Policy Conference in Washington, DC was attended by 150 members and guests. We were joined by Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), the fourth ranking Democrat in the Senate and Chair of the Senate Budget Committee, Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), Republican Senate Whip, and Senator Rob Portman (R-OH). 2014 Leadership Summit

The 2014 Leadership Summit brought together 160 ESCA members and guests in Fort Lauderdale. Summit attendees were joined by three guest speakers from the tax-writing committees in Congress: Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY, Senate Finance Committee), Rep. Erik Paulsen (R-MN-3, House Ways and Means Committee), and Rep. Richie Neal (D-MA, House Ways and Means Committee). In September, 160 ESCA members and guests convened in Washington, DC for the 2013 Federal Policy Conference and Lobby Day. Conference attendees heard from three members of Congress currently playing critical roles in shaping the tax reform debate: Rep. Pat Tiberi (R-OH-12), Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD), and Rep. 2011 “Mini” Lobby Days

In 2011, ESCA held three “mini” lobby days in addition to the “mega” lobby day at the Federal Policy Conference. Between these four events, ESCA companies met with more than 80 House Members and 31 Senate Members. Lobby day teams focused on building awareness and support from Members of key Committees (House Ways and Means, House Education and the Workforce, Senate Finance, and Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions) and asking for support of H.R. 1244/S. 1512, the Promotion and Expansion of Employee Ownership Act. The lobby day teams’ hard work led to 62 Members of the House of Representatives co-sponsoring H.R. 1244, and 10 Members of the Senate co-sponsoring S. 1512.

2011 Federal Policy Conference

At the Federal Policy Conference in September 2011, ESCA members heard from four influential Members of Congress: Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Orrin Hatch (R-UT), House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI), House Republican Chief Deputy Whip and House Ways and Means Committee Member Peter Roskam (R-IL), and House Ways and Means Committee Member Earl Blumenauer (D-OR). For the lobby day portion of the event, 15 teams of ESCA members and employee-owners visited 60 House and Senate offices on Capitol Hill.
